5 Gold Rings

This is the time of year for singing and remembering and giving and receiving. And who hasn't sung at least one entire verse of the "12 Days of Christmas" in the past 12 months? Whether you ascribe these verses to Austin's 1909 version or you are a purest and think that these verses were handed down through time and many authors contributed, the fact remains that we all love these song for a many reasons - probably the most important is the fact that this is the time of year that we have the fondest childhood memories - filled with delight and glee and surprises and hope.

For the 12 days of Christmas, my true love sent to me ...

A Partridge in a pear-tree

2 Turtle doves

3 French hens

4 Colly birds

5 Gold rings

6 Geese a laying

7 Swans a swimming

8 Maids a milking

9 Drummers drumming

10 Pipers pipping

11 Ladies dancing

12 Lords a leaping

There have been many musings over the 5 gold rings with some suggesting that they were not really rings at all but were symbolic of 5 pieces of harmony in a song instead. Whatever the case we have chosen 5 gold rings that you might find worthy of this song:

Brooklyn

Reykjavik

Stockholm 10

Dublin 10

You may disagree with our 5 gold rings for the 12 Days of Christmas but I think we will all agree that at this special time of year there are always more gifts than we need and the true meaning is found more in giving than receiving.

We wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
